Lent Day 24 — Held up in Prayer

Scripture

"When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset."

Exodus 17:12

Devotion

The wilderness does not only test our needs—it tests our strength.

After God provided manna from heaven and water from the rock, Israel soon faced another challenge. Amalek came against them, and the battle began. Moses climbed a hill overlooking the valley and lifted his hands toward God. As long as his hands were raised, Israel prevailed. But when his arms grew tired and began to fall, the battle turned.

Victory was not won by strength alone.

Moses could not hold his arms up forever. His strength faded, just as ours often does. Yet he was not left alone. Aaron and Hur came beside him and held his hands steady until sunset.

Sometimes faith looks like lifting our hands in prayer. Other times it looks like allowing others to hold us up when we are too weary to stand on our own.

God never intended the journey of faith to be carried alone. Even in the wilderness, He provides people who strengthen our hands and help us remain steady.

🌿 Reflection

Where in your life are your hands growing tired?

Is there someone God has placed beside you to help hold them up?

And is there someone whose hands you may be called to support today?

🌿 Prayer

Lord,

When my strength begins to fail and the journey feels heavy, remind me that I do not walk alone.

Thank You for the people who stand beside me and help hold my hands steady in prayer.

Teach me to trust Your strength when mine is not enough, and help me be a source of encouragement to others who are weary.

Sustain my faith and keep my heart lifted toward You.

Amen.
