The Kind of Treasure That Lasts - Proverbs 10: 1-2

There are parts of Scripture that speak loudly, and then there are verses that quietly settle into the heart and stay there.
This passage holds both joy and grief in the same breath. It acknowledges something deeply human: that love makes us vulnerable. When we care deeply for others, their choices can bring both pride and pain. And sometimes, we carry those feelings quietly, without even putting them into words.
But tucked into these verses is something steady and reassuring.
“Righteousness delivers…”
Not loud success.
Not worldly gain.
Not control over every outcome.
Righteousness.
The quiet, daily choosing of what is good.
The steady walking with God in ordinary moments.
The life that is lived gently, faithfully, and honestly.
That kind of life becomes a refuge.
Not all at once.
But slowly, over time.
We find it in the small places:
- In the quiet of early morning
- In a peaceful walk outdoors
- In the stillness of a home at rest
- In a moment sitting alone with nothing to do and nowhere to be
