The Soil Looked Still…

There are seasons when it feels like nothing is happening.

We pray.
We give.
We plant seeds in faith.
And then we wait.

From the outside, the ground looks unchanged. Quiet. Still. Almost empty. It can be easy to wonder if anything is really taking root at all.

But God does some of His most beautiful work beneath the surface.

A seed doesn’t grow where we can see it. It grows in the dark. In the quiet. In hidden places where roots are being formed and strength is being built. Long before anything breaks through the soil, life is already there.

And then one day, something small appears.
A tiny sign.
A gentle reminder.

What once looked still was never empty. God was working the entire time.

Sometimes He allows us to see that first sprout — a moment of encouragement to remind us that the prayers mattered, the kindness mattered, the faith mattered. Nothing planted in love is ever wasted. Nothing given to God goes unseen.

Growth doesn’t always come quickly. But when the time is right, what has been growing in secret begins to rise.

If you are in a season where the ground feels quiet, take heart. God is tending what you cannot see. Roots are forming. Life is beginning. And at just the right moment, He will bring it to the surface.

The soil may look still…
but God is working.

Scripture for Reflection
“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.”
— 1 Corinthians 3:6

Prayer
Lord, help me trust You in the quiet seasons. When I cannot see growth, remind me that You are still at work. Thank You for every seed planted in faith and for the life You are bringing forth in Your perfect time.

Amen
