Lent Day 16 — The First Signs of Life

Scripture

“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

— Philippians 1:6

Devotion

After the roots have grown quietly beneath the soil, something remarkable begins to happen.

A small green shoot pushes its way toward the light.

It may look fragile. Easy to miss. Yet that tiny sign tells a deeper story. Long before this moment, life was already forming below the surface.

God often works this way in our lives.

For a long time, His work is hidden. He strengthens our faith, reshapes our hearts, and deepens our roots in ways we cannot see. Then, slowly and quietly, the first signs begin to appear.

A new patience.
A softened heart.
A deeper trust in Him.

What once felt buried begins to rise.

Lent reminds us that God's work does not stay hidden forever. In His time, what has been growing in secret will begin to reach toward the light.

🌿 Reflection

What small signs of growth might God be bringing to the surface in your life right now?

🌿 Prayer

Lord,

Thank You for the quiet work You do in my heart. Even when I cannot see what You are doing, help me trust that You are growing something new within me. Give me patience to wait and faith to recognize the small signs of Your work.

Amen.
