Lent Day 15 — Hidden Roots
Scripture
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught”
— Colossians 2:6–7
Devotion
Yesterday we spoke about the next faithful step.
One step of obedience.
One quiet movement forward.
But something happens after that step that we often cannot see.
Roots begin to grow.
Scripture tells us to live our lives in Christ, rooted and built up in Him.
Roots grow in hidden places.
They do not grow in sunlight.
They grow in the dark soil beneath the surface.
And in the same way, much of God's work in us happens quietly.
After the step of obedience…
After the decision to trust…
God begins strengthening what holds us steady.
Faith grows deeper.
Trust becomes less fragile.
And slowly, unseen beneath the surface, a life becomes anchored.
You may not feel dramatic change.
You may not see visible progress.
But hidden roots are forming.
And roots determine what a life can withstand.
Storms do not test the branches.
They reveal the roots.
So today, do not measure your faith only by what is visible.
God is often doing His most faithful work in the unseen places.
🌿 Reflection
Where in your life might God be strengthening roots that you cannot yet see?
What quiet growth might be happening beneath the surface?
🌿 Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for the work You do in hidden places.
When I cannot see progress, help me trust that You are strengthening what holds me steady.
Grow my faith deep.
Let my life be rooted firmly in You so that when storms come, I remain grounded.
Amen.
