Lent Day 22 — Bread in the Wilderness
Scripture
"Then the Lord said to Moses, 'I will rain down bread from heaven for you.'"
— Exodus 16:4
Devotion
The wilderness often reveals our deepest needs.
When Israel walked through the desert, they quickly realized that their own strength could not sustain them. Food was scarce. The journey was long. The future felt uncertain.
Yet each morning, something unexpected appeared on the ground — manna.
Just enough for the day.
God did not provide a year’s supply all at once.
He provided daily bread.
The lesson was simple but profound:
they would learn to trust Him one day at a time.
Our spiritual lives often work the same way.
God rarely reveals the entire path ahead.
Instead, He meets us in the wilderness with exactly what we need for today.
Grace for today.
Strength for today.
Hope for today.
Tomorrow’s provision will come tomorrow.
🌿 Reflection
Where in your life are you wishing for the whole journey to be solved at once?
How might God be inviting you to trust Him for today’s bread instead?
🌿 Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for providing what I need each day.
When I grow anxious about the future, remind me that You are the same God who fed Your people in the wilderness.
Help me trust You one step and one day at a time.
Amen.
