Lent Day 28 —The Voice of God
Scripture
"And God spoke all these words:"
— Exodus 20:1
Devotion
The mountain was covered in fire and cloud. Thunder echoed across the sky. The people stood at a distance, filled with awe as the presence of God rested on Mount Sinai.
Then, God spoke.
Out of the fire and the cloud came His voice—clear, powerful, and full of truth. These were not just words for that moment. They were words meant to guide His people in how to live, how to love, and how to walk with Him.
The Ten Commandments were not given as a burden, but as a gift.
They revealed the heart of God.
They showed His people how to live in relationship with Him and with one another. In a wilderness filled with uncertainty, God gave them something steady—His truth.
Even today, His voice still speaks.
Not through thunder on a mountain, but through His Word, His Spirit, and the quiet moments when we choose to listen.
Lent reminds us to slow down and make space to hear Him.
Because the God who once spoke from the mountain still speaks to the hearts of His people.
🌿 Reflection
Where might God be trying to speak into your life right now?
Are you making space to listen?
🌿 Prayer
Lord,
Help me to quiet the noise around me so I can hear Your voice. Teach me to listen with a willing heart and to follow where You lead. Let Your truth guide my steps each day.
Amen.
