Lent Day 39 — We Come to the Cross
Scripture
“And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him…"
— Luke 23:33
Devotion
There is a point in every journey
when what we have been moving toward
is no longer ahead of us.
We arrive.
________________________________________________________________________
All along, we have been walking—
learning, releasing, understanding.
Step by step,
without fully seeing.
But now…
we see.
_______________________________________________________________________
The cross is not distant anymore.
It is not symbolic.
It is not something we speak of lightly.
It stands before us.
_____________________________________________________________________
And everything we have carried…
everything we have released…
everything we could not hold—
meets us here.
__________________________________________________________________________
This is where love did not turn away.
This is where grace did not remain an idea.
This is where what we could not carry
was fully taken.
__________________________________________________
There is no rush here.
No need to explain.
Only to stand.
To see.
To understand, even if only a little more,
what love was willing to do.

🌿 Reflection
Pause here today.
Do not move quickly past this moment.
What does it mean
that the cross is no longer distant?
🌿 Prayer
Lord,
I have walked this far,
but I do not fully understand.
Still, I see enough to know
that this was not small.
You did not turn away.
You did not step back.
You stayed.
You carried what I could not.
Help me not to rush past this.
Teach me to stand here—
with humility,
with gratitude,
with a heart that is learning to see.
Amen.

Walk This Journey Together
If today’s reflection met you where you are, don’t let the quiet end here.
Each morning of Lent, a new step is waiting —
a gentle place to pause, listen, and draw near to God.
Return tomorrow for Day 40. We’ll continue the journey — one faithful step at a time.
There is a place for you here.
