Lent Day 10 — Making Room
Scripture
“In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord…”
— Isaiah 40:3
Devotion
There is a quiet work that happens after surrender.
After we loosen our grip
and settle into waiting,
we begin to notice what still fills the space.
Old thoughts.
Lingering fears.
The noise we carry even in silence.
Lent is not about adding something new to an already crowded life.
It is about gently clearing space.
Making room is not dramatic.
It is small, intentional, and often unseen.
It might look like:
- turning off what distracts
- letting a conversation rest
- stepping away from hurry
- sitting longer than feels comfortable
When we make room,
we are not pushing life away.
We are preparing a place for God to dwell more deeply.
Some houses change slowly.
So do hearts.
Reflection
What feels crowded in your spirit right now?
Where could you clear even a small space —
in your thoughts, your schedule, or your home —
to make room for God?
🌿 Prayer
Lord,
Teach me the quiet work of making room.
Show me what I can release without fear.
Help me create space within my heart
where Your presence can settle and remain.
Amen.
