Lent Day 9 — Waiting

Scripture

Psalm 27:14 (NIV)

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Devotion

Yesterday we surrendered.

We placed what we could not carry into God’s hands.
We loosened our grip.
We said yes — even without knowing what comes next.

And then something unexpected happens.

Nothing changes.

The prayers remain unanswered.
The situation looks the same.
The path ahead is still unclear.

This is the sacred space we rarely talk about —
the space between surrender and visible change.

Waiting can feel uncomfortable because it asks us to live without resolution.
But Scripture never describes waiting as wasted time.

Waiting is where roots grow deeper than sight.

God works quietly here — beneath the surface, beyond our awareness, within places we cannot measure. While we wait, He strengthens trust, reshapes desires, and prepares what is not yet ready to appear.

Waiting is not punishment.
It is participation.

We are learning to rest in God’s timing instead of rushing toward our own.

And sometimes the greatest act of faith is simply staying — believing that God is moving even when the moment feels still.

Reflection

     - Where in my life do I feel stuck or unfinished right now?

     - Can I believe that God is working even when I cannot see movement?

     - What would it look like to wait with peace instead of anxiety?

     - Sit quietly today.

     - Do not ask for answers right away.

     - Just remain.

🌿 Prayer

Lord,

Waiting is hard for me.
I want clarity, movement, and resolution.

But today I choose to trust Your timing more than my urgency.

Teach me to wait without fear.
Quiet the part of my heart that wants to rush ahead.
Help me believe that You are working even in stillness.

Strengthen me while I wait.
Give me peace in unfinished places.
And help me rest in the knowledge that You are never late.

Amen.

Walk This Journey Together

If today’s reflection met you where you are, you are warmly invited to continue the journey.

Each morning of Lent, a new quiet reflection is shared — a gentle place to pause, listen, and draw near to God.

Come back tomorrow and walk the next step with us.

There is a place for you here.
