Lent Day 36 — The Lamb is Given

Scripture

“God will provide for himself the lamb…"

— Genesis 22:8

Devotion

When the weight becomes too much to carry,
God does not ask us to try harder.

He provides.

From the beginning, He was already preparing a way—
not through our effort,
but through His mercy.

A lamb in the place of another.
A covering where there had been exposure.
A provision where there had been lack.

What we could not hold,
what we could not fix,
what we could not become—

God did not ignore it.

He answered it.

Not with more instruction…
but with sacrifice.

And quietly, without announcement,
the story begins to turn:

Not toward what we must do,
but toward what He has given.

🌿 Reflection

What if the answer was never found in trying harder…
but in receiving what God has already provided?

🌿 Prayer

Lord,

I have felt the weight of what I cannot carry.

And now I see…
You were never asking me to.

You were already preparing a way.

Where I have tried to fix myself,
You offer mercy.
Where I have struggled to become enough,
You have already provided what I lack.

Teach me to stop striving
and begin receiving.

Help me trust what You have given,
even when I do not fully understand it yet.

And as I walk forward,
help me recognize the quiet ways
You have already made a way for me.

Amen.

Walk This Journey Together

If today’s reflection met you where you are, don’t let the quiet end here.

Each morning of Lent, a new step is waiting —
a gentle place to pause, listen, and draw near to God.

Return tomorrow for Day 37. We’ll continue the journey — one faithful step at a time.

There is a place for you here.
