Lent Day 11 — Be Still
Scripture
“Be still and know that I am God”
—Psalm 46:10
Devotion
There was a time when silence felt uncomfortable.
I filled it quickly — with noise, with distraction, with something playing in the background so I would not be alone with my thoughts.
Quiet felt like absence.
But somewhere along the way, something changed.
The silence stopped feeling empty and began to feel peaceful.
After surrendering, after waiting, after making room, I discovered that stillness is not something to fear. It is a place where God gently meets us.
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Stillness is not inactivity.
It is presence.
It is sitting without rushing.
Thinking without pressure.
Resting without needing to prove anything.
In silence, I began to notice what was always there — God’s steady nearness, quiet and faithful.
Today, allow the silence to remain.
Do not hurry to fill it.
Peace often speaks in whispers I can only hear when everything else grows quiet.
Reflection
How has your relationship with silence changed over time?
Where in your day can you allow a few moments of true stillness — without distraction?
🌿 Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for meeting me in the quiet.
Where I once rushed to fill silence, teach me now to rest within it.
Let stillness become a place of knowing You,
a space where my thoughts settle and my heart finds peace.
Help me to trust that You are present, even when nothing seems to be happening.
Amen.
