Lent Day 8 — Surrendering the Outcome

Lent Day 8 — Surrendering the Outcome

Scripture

Psalm 37:7 (NIV)

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.”

Devotion

As God begins His quiet work within us, we often feel the urge to measure progress — to see change quickly or understand where He is leading. Yet spiritual growth rarely unfolds according to our plans.

Lent invites us to loosen our grip on outcomes. We are called not to control transformation, but to surrender to the One who is faithfully shaping us.

Surrender does not mean passivity or defeat. It is an act of trustful release — placing our expectations, timelines, and striving into God’s hands. In surrender, we make room for grace to work more deeply than effort ever could.

Today, release the need to manage what only God can complete. Be still, and let Him work.

Reflection

      - Where am I trying to control an outcome instead of surrendering it to God?

      - What would it look like today to rest in His timing rather than my own?

      - Can I trust that God is working even when I cannot see results?

Take a quiet moment to name one thing you are holding tightly — and gently place it before the Lord.

🌿 Prayer

Lord,

You see the places where I strive and worry about what I cannot control. Teach me to be still before You. Help me release my expectations, my timelines, and my need for certainty.

Give me a heart willing to surrender the outcome and trust Your work within me. Form in me a deeper peace as I rest in Your wisdom and love.

I place today — and all that concerns me — into Your hands.

Amen.

If today’s reflection met you where you are, you are warmly invited to continue the journey.

Each morning of Lent, a new quiet reflection is shared — a gentle place to pause, listen, and draw near to God.
